What is some of the feedback from teachers, therapists etc?

They love the non-commercial, quirky nature of the quilts and how they stimulate a variety of responses. 

Specific examples are:

• A restless child playing quietly with a quilt during story-time rather than interrupting other children
• An upset child running their hand over and over the soft surfaces
• A group of children improvising a game using cars and dinosaurs on a square mat
• A square mat forming the base of a tower game
• A restless child running their fingers over and over the knotted trail for both distraction and soothing.
• Animated discussion between children over what, why, how.
• Identifying textural dislikes/phobias.

Can I contact you for advice re construction?

I welcome feedback so that the instructions can be improved.  However as I am doing this voluntarily the instructions will be written only (apologies to those who learn best with visuals and audio) and any updates will be shared online. 

This is one reason why I recommend starting these quilts in a group situation – problem solving and answering questions is much easier with a collective brain!

Do you teach?

Yes, one-day workshops in which 2 quilts are created and others discussed. I live in Melbourne, Australia.

Do you do on-line classes?

I’m sorry, this isn’t possible as I am not set up for it.

Is it possible for a group to purchase some quilts to use as a guide and inspiration?

Yes, you can contact me for details.

Why don’t you use many patterned patchwork fabrics?

I don’t use patterned fabrics in my own work so my collection is virtually all solids – hence many Rainbow projects.  However I will regularly post quilts which use patterned fabrics and dressmaking leftovers.

Can I hand sew these quilts?

Yes, absolutely, use the methods that suit you.  But do be aware that these quilts will be heavily used so make the stitching sturdy – if they are popular they may only last 6 months, maybe a year.

Can we share images of our quilts?

We would love to see your quilts and will upload as many as we can. Please specify if your name is to be included with the image, and say which state you live in.
