DESCRIPTION
Caves for dinosaurs, homes for fairies – the possible stories are endless. And, just what is a rainbow?
It is virtually impossible to make the rainbows symmetrical and identical, so a feature is made of them being “wonky”.
Another quilt for a group of four, designed to stimulate discussion and play.
PLEASE REFER TO THE TECHNICAL INFORMATION BEFORE COMMENCING
Size
45cm x 45cm (all 3 layers cut 47 x 47cm)
Materials
- Plain coloured fabric for top so colours and textures stand out
- Fabric of choice on back
- Thin wadding
- Ric rac, braid, ribbon, elastic, cord – anything and everything
ORDER OF ASSEMBLY
- Assemble the 3 layers.
- Use pins to mark the quilt into four quarters.
- Pin the four biggest arcs in place. I do this by eye (as they are mean to be wonky), keeping them about 2cm from the centre lines. Stitch in place. The “empty” space is for play.
- Pin and stitch the next rows as per sample below. There are five lines not six, as six makes it too crowded.
- Sew a small central motif – not too big, as the “empty” space is for creative play.
- Trim and bind the quilt.
